Technical Enablement Update

Fort Collins Data Center Migration - Fort Collins Demo and Enablement Environments are moving to Sacramento!

What?

Due to the Spin Merge, Fort Collins can no longer be used to host any Micro Focus infrastructure and a migration of the entire Data Center hosted in Fort Collins is planned to take place starting May 11th.

In preparation for the migration, all Demo and Enablement environments hosted on Fort Collins will be powered down prior to EOD on Wednesday, May 9th.  Powering the environments down is needed to ensure a graceful migration without any damage or loss of data to the Demo and Enablement environments.

The Demo and Enablement infrastructure being moved consists of 220 hosts (Gen7, 8 and 9 servers hosting up to 2593 VMs), 4 3PAR storage servers and 30 network devices.

The physical move to Micro Focus Sacramento Data Center will take place on Friday, May 11th.  Expected migration time is one week - EOD on Friday, May 18th, during that time Infrastructure will be moved to Sacramento Data Center, hardware will be setup, configured and Environments will be powered on.

With that said, access to all Demo and Enablement environments might not be restored until EOD on Friday, May 25th due to sanity, functionality and performance testing of the Demo and Enablement Environments within the new Data Center.

If everything goes as planned and no issues are encountered, access might already be restored by EOD on Friday 18th.

Technical Enablement organization will send out an announcement about restored access once environments validation is completed.

The environments that will be affected are:

  1. Any Demo environments hosted at the moment in our Fort Collins Data Center:
    1. OpsB Shared Demo Environment.
    2. NOM Shared Demo Environment.
    3. DP Fort Collins Hosted Demo environment.
    4. Arcsight Fort Collins Hosted environments.
    5. DCA/HCM Fort Collins Hosted Demo Environments.
    6. APM Shared Demo Environment.
  2. All Enablement Environments hosted in Fort Collins:
    1. ITOM bootcamps/Lab weeks training environments including CAPA1 Shared Environment (hence no bootcamps or lab weeks are planned for May)
    2. PlateSpin training environments.
    3. ITOM L400 training environments.
    4. Any additional training environment hosted in Fort Collins.
  3. ApsLab environments.

Unaffected environments:

  1. Stratus hosted Demo and Training Environments.
  2. AWS hosted Demo and Training Environments.
  3. Downloadable Demo and Training Images.
  4. Downloadable Executive Demos.
  5. Geneva hosted Demo environments.
  6. Heritage MicroFocus MODs.
  7. Model Office.

Please take into account the environments’ downtime and plan your Demo and training activities accordingly on alternative environments or on different times.

Another reminder email regarding this migration will be sent out a week prior to the migration date.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and collaboration.
